Saint Ouen Flea Markets, Paris
Peruse This 147 Year Old Parisian Antique Market.
If you are equally obsessed like I am with Midnight In Paris, Woody Allen’s beautiful homage to Paris, then you will have seen Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams peruse the antique Market Les Puces de Saint-Ouen (Saint Ouen Flea Market). Woody Allen captured the romance and nostalgia of this market perfectly – the vibrant colors, colorful shop owners, and laid-back ambiance. Whether you are in the market for antique furniture, artwork, vintage apparel or linens, there is something for everyone and at every price.
When you arrive at either Porte de Clignacourt or Garibaldi Metro stations bypass the vendors selling knock-offs and cheap goods and head straight for Rue des Rosiers where the more interesting markets are – Malassis, Dauphine, Biron, Paul Bert Serpette and Vernaison. Peruse the markets, barter for you wears and enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes. As it houses one of the largest antique dealers in the world with over 9 hectares of vendors, a whole afternoon is required to explore all 15 Markets.
Although you may not have a suitcase large enough for tableware, vintage records or posters, make sure to purchase at least one small item. I bought a small French bakery piggy bank for my niece who absolutely adores it. Every time I see her she always asks for more coins and of course, I am always happy to oblige. A memory from Les Puces de Saint-Ouen that we will be both cherish for years to come.
