Le Mas D’arvieux. Treat Yourself To A Night Or Three At This Upscale Chateau.

When I drove through France and Spain with an ex-boyfriend it was the perfect opportunity for us to remove ourselves from hostel life and opt to stay in Airbnb’s and small family run hotels. When I was looking for a reasonably priced place for us to stay in Tarascon, I was shocked to learn that for a little more than what we were paying the previous weeks, we could stay in a beautiful Chateau (it was late September so we found great deals for around 45€ per person). The one that caught our eye was the beautiful Le Mas D’arvieux.

Le Mas D’arvieux is a short drive from the main town of Tarascon. Down a long driveway and with orchards to the right, we came upon the stately ‘Mas’ (farmhouse in English). Our room was on the second floor and overlooked the pool and the grounds. Every morning I would sit on the balcony before breakfast to read my book and enjoy the crisp September air. Our breakfast was included in the price and consisted of mini croissants, artisan bread, farm eggs, and their own homemade jams. Afterward, we would spend our days driving to the many towns – nothing longer than an hour away. We loved Arles, Nimes and especially Les Baux-de-Provence.

On Tuesday we perused the Tarascon market, which is famous for their colorful Provençal fabrics and local products. When we returned in the late afternoons we would chill by the pool (watch out for the chickens, they like to squat and squawk alongside you) before heading out for a late night meal. We were sad to say our goodbyes and would have loved to stay longer, but more of France was to be explored. It was well worth the extra euros to have a few days to relax in a more lavish setting. I highly recommend you splurge every so often.
